You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble
and surround me with songs of deliverance.
Psalm 32:7
Playing “Hide and Seek” as an adult would seem rather unusual if played with other adults.
Since the purpose of the game is to hide and be the last discovered, it is usually considered as a game for children. However in life, hide and seek can often turn into a reality.
Walking among our friends and families with smiles on our faces, we hope that the true realities of our emotions and feelings remain undiscovered. Announcing that we are handling the game of life well, we hide the pain and insecurities eating at us inside. It is the adult game where we truly want to hide the truth and refuse to let others seek out.
There is, however, an incredible hiding place for us in which the “Seeker” knows us and our emotions inside and out. There need be no secrets from Him for He knows us better than we know ourselves. Washed in His ever-cleansing river of forgiveness, love, and mercy through the cross, Jesus surrounds us with the assurance that His redemption is not a game but a reality that will sustain and protect us into eternity.
Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank You for being a safe place to hide when life wants to swallow me up.
May my comfort be found in You and in You alone. Amen.
