The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him…
Every fall we dug up the banana trees planted, knowing the time of frost and cold winters was fast approaching. It was critical to find a safe place for them. After cutting off the bulk of the stems to within about three feet of the roots, we could only hope they would sprout and grow again in the spring. And we were never disappointed.
The Father, too, had plans of preserving a nation for Himself. Although many in this nation would abandon and disown Him, His divine purpose for this falling out would be for the saving of many who were not part of that nation. Yet that nation would not die, for God designed that a shoot would come forth from the remaining stump. That shoot, grounded with the Father’s roots, would revive and bring about the salvation of many nations. Through the death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ, the door would open for other nations to receive Him and acknowledge Him as Lord and Savior. That shoot, Jesus Christ, possessed the Spirit of wisdom, understanding, counsel, power, and knowledge. Now He has given that same Spirit to all people of all nations who believe in Him.
Dear Father, thank You for allowing Your Son, the shoot from Jesse, to be the Redeemer of all nations. May Your glory viewed this Advent season. Amen.
