A song once dearly loved by children was “All Things Bright and Beautiful.” The words emphasized the fact that the Lord God made all the wonders of plants and animals, trees and forests, mountains and rivers, and even the winter winds and summer sun.
Solomon, the richest and wisest man that ever lived, acknowledged this. In Ecclesiastes 3:2-8, he indicates that there are times to weep and times to laugh; times to break down, and times to build up; times to mourn and times to dance. In all this, we are assured that God promises to create something beautiful and fulfill His will of saving us in the midst of all the negatives and positives in our daily lives.
There are messes we can’t fix, past mistakes we can’t erase, and misspoken words we’d like to take back. But because we are sinners, Christ Jesus Himself turned everything around for us. He takes our sins and makes us beautiful in His time by His perfect life, death, and resurrection. Those messes, mistakes, and misspoken words are replaced with His righteousness. Crowning us with His peace, joy, and forgiveness through Baptism, His love restores us and makes all things bright and beautiful in their time (Romans 8:28).
Prayer: Jesus, like a potter with clay, continue to make, model, and mold me into something beautiful for You. Help me never forget that You are always deserving of all glory forever and ever. Amen.
