which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him,
the son of man that you care for him? Psalm 8:3-4
Autumn is an incredibly beautiful time of year, especially in the northern part of America. Having grown up in Ohio, I remember the drives our family would take through the countryside, viewing the multicolored trees over a seascape of rolling hills. How often I recall hearing the “oohs” and “aahs” as we rambled up and down the roads!
Memories of those days will last a lifetime but even more special is the reminder that the revelation of God’s beauty is nothing in comparison to the amazing beauty He creates in my own life. Not only do I see His glory in nature, but even more so, I see His Son Jesus Christ crucified and raised for me, and I recall that His goodness will never cease to flow continually to me from His heavenly throne of grace and mercy, every day, one day at a time.
Viewing the beauty of nature confirms His love for me and brings me to my knees as I share my “oohs” and “aahs” for all His bountiful goodness, both in the past and in my life today.
Prayer: Dear Father in heaven, what a treasured gift You have given me in nature and for the treasured gift of Your Son, who lives in and with me. Amen.
