Psalm 96:4, 6
Having been to Israel and several countries in Europe, I remember the splendor, majesty, strength, and glory that are exposed in the temples and cathedrals in those countries. Ornate statues and icons, elaborate altars, mosaics on the floors and walls, and grand ceilings left me with a sense of awe and respect for the elaborate work that was done so many years ago.
Yet within every believer in Christ is a source of beauty that cannot even compare with these marvels of men. By the Word, Baptism, and Holy Communion, the Holy Spirit has made all of the benefits of Christ’s saving work ours – forgiveness, life, and salvation. Though His power, we have become a work of art, a masterpiece, sanctified by the Creator of the universe. Because the Lord Almighty resides in us, we are His temple, His sanctuary, full of His grace and mercy (1 Corinthians 3:16). We are His shining lights in a world darkened by sin. We are His mouthpiece, His hands, His feet, and His example of love to this hurting and damaged world. And although the world may not recognize us, they will someday recognize Him. All glory belongs to Him for He is most worthy of praise.
Prayer: Dear Father, thank You for allowing me to be Your sanctuary, a vessel of love and joy to a world in desperate need of You. Amen.
