yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day
2 Corinthians 4:16
Although my numbered years are increasing, I believe I am spiritually getting younger every day. I am more alive in Christ than I could ever imagine and I know it will only increase as the days move on. As one who reached the seventy year mark, I realize that I have so little time to share Christ’s love, grace, and mercy with others. Rather than being in the initial third of my life, I am nearing the end. That thought could be daunting, but I find it invigorating. Viewing the grace given to me through Jesus’ loving sacrifice and continual mercy, each day is His gift to be lived for Him in a variety of joyful ways. It is such amazing work and He is such an incredible gift to share.
Work for Him does not end when we retire. It does not end as the years mount up. It ends when His work for us is completed. It ends when our Father calls us home to be with Him. The message of the cross and resurrection will remain and what a privilege we possess in sharing that message. May our last breath be that of living in and sharing His love.
Prayer: Dear Father in heaven, as think of the years of a person’s life – whether thirty, seventy, or more – may I know that each year can be served for You. Amen.
