When we ponder or meditate on an event or happening, we carefully contemplate our plans or actions. Doing so requires committed time to come to grips with what has happened or what we have seen.
Pondering and meditating on God’s work and words are no different. Reading Scripture, the Holy Spirit enables us to view Christ through the eyes of faith and receive a better awareness of God’s Word for our daily lives. In Proverbs, chapter 2, we are reminded of the significance of treasuring and storing up God’s wisdom and understanding in our hearts and minds.
My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God (verses 1-5).
Ponder Scripture. Meditate on it. Pray on it. Read it. Hear it. Incline your heart to receive it. Call out for insight. Treasure it as you seek Christ. God’s wisdom and understanding through His Word will become more precious than silver and more valuable than hidden treasure.
Prayer: Dear God, may Your Holy Spirit enable me to discover the treasures hidden in Your Word. Amen.
