My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.
Sometimes we wonder how joy one day can become heaviness the next. Desiring not to base our faith or direction in life on feelings, we pray that reading Scripture may open our eyes to His truths. Choosing to sit in a quiet place with the Lord, we meditate on His wonderful words and soon discover that God often has a dual purpose for the seemingly opposite reactions.
God’s primary purpose in allowing us to experience dual emotions is to discover a love that far surpasses any feelings we may have. The mundane, ordinary days of our lives may seemingly cast a shadow as if covered with heaviness. Yet, in Christ, that shadow can be viewed as a source of shade and protection. As His Holy Spirit gently touches our hearts in His Word, we learn to cling to Him. Hearing His words of comfort and strength, He lifts us to the heights with Himself. Refreshed and encouraged, we are given the ability in Christ to sing – to sing of His grace and mercy that saved us and to grant us the courage and strength to view Him even the shadows.
Prayer: Thank You, Jesus, that You sometimes hide me in Your shadows of Your wings for it is there that I find safety and protection from my confusing thoughts and emotions. Amen.
