Smothered with kisses, a young child embraces love as a cuddly kind of love. A teenager and young adult wants a love involving romantic hugs and kisses. Through the media, others observe love as a lustful, erotic love. No matter the type of love desired, the absence of it may make one feel empty and unaccepted.
At the heart of these loves is the misunderstanding that it can only come from outside sources. While God may use others to learn of His love in genuine, beautiful ways, it is His love alone that is always vital, energetic, and forgiving. Created and displayed in the heart of God, His love is revealed in Jesus’ life and death. That love enters our hearts through baptism and displays itself in a love and concern for others. It is a love that never dies and is discovered only in Him. Through time spent in His Word, we uncover a love received by faith and revealed in works of love for our neighbor. Expanding wider and longer and higher and deeper that we can possibly imagine, His exposed love was cut in His hands for us.
Prayer: Jesus, thank You for a love that endured the agony on the cross for me and was revealed powerfully through Your resurrection. Amen
