On a foot trail beneath the Iguazu Falls in Brazil stands a plaque etched with the words “Mightier than the thunder of the great waters, mightier than the breakers of the sea – the Lord on high is mighty (Psalm 93:4).” Below that quote is written: “God is greater than all our troubles.”
Finding strength and joy in the midst of our daily walk of life is often a struggle. The monotony, the unwanted events and tasks, and the unavoidable expectations occasionally leave us questioning God’s presence and love in our lives. We may be tempted to view God as someone who really doesn’t care about our day-to-day struggles. People have even been heard to say, “Why would I bother God with the small things? I’ll call on Him when the big things happen.”
But the mighty God above earnestly desires that we know Him, not only as The Mighty One on high, but also as the Mighty One on earth who takes care of our daily needs. No matter our struggles in life, He covers us with His grace and mercy. And He proved it by sending His Son Jesus in our flesh to love us to death, even death on a cross.
Prayer: Dear Father, when I view the great waters or hear the breakers of the sea, may I be reminded for Your mighty love that covers me today, tomorrow, and into eternity. Give me the faith to never doubt that love. Amen.
