and my reward is with my God.
A beautiful example of kindness today is that of paying it forward. I myself was the recipient of such a gift at a drive-through coffee shop. I had no idea who the donor was and no way of thanking him. But I imagine that it was the joy of giving that motivated him to do so. The best part: it motivated me to do the same for another.
From eternity the Lord God Himself had the plan to pay it forward for the redemption of mankind. Out of love, He created a world for man to enjoy and care for. Out of love, He gave Adam and Eve His Word to believe and to live. When they rejected His Word for their desires and sin entered the world through them, God’s plan of redemption began to unfold. In the Old Testament, the plan was revealed as a promise. In the New Testament it was a promise fulfilled. Our future eternal reward, though undeserved, was revealed on the cross and through Christ’s resurrection. He paid it forward for us. Now living in Him, I am motivated to pay His love forward to others through service on His behalf.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for Your plan of paying it forward for me. May my gratitude for that plan overflow to others in and through You. Amen.
