We strongly desire to write the playbook of our lives. With iPhones and calendars in hand, we lay out our schedules for the coming months and years. Yet Proverbs 16:9 states, “In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps”. So when life throws us curve balls, giving us a new script, we discover that what was written in our schedules is thrown out the window. Shattering our lives like the glass from a broken window, we blame God for allowing His script to sidetrack our own.
A promise from God’s Word elevates His purpose for us. And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28). Although struggling to acknowledge that His plans for our growth and spiritual development are broader and wiser that ours, we gradually learn to trust His playbook.
Through it all, we will realize that each month, day, and week of our lives is encased in the loving, nail scarred hands of Jesus, who gave His very life as a sign that NOTHING will touch our lives outside of His grace, love, mercy, and forgiveness.
Prayer: Sweet Jesus, may I daily be reminded that You beautifully ordained my days for the purpose of growing and learning more of You – in every and all circumstances. Amen.
