A dear friend, who had been wallowing in self-pity, decided to play a game of scrabble on her computer. She saw it as her best option to unwind and divert her thoughts. To her surprise, the computer played the letters JOY…and she smiled. It was a reminder of what God says in His Word: that we find JOY in the day by leaving everything to Him!
Visible beauty can be seen from the sunrises that expose unusual formations of clouds kissed with the morning sun to the waves that crash against rugged coastlines. Both help us develop a joyful heart and awe for the Creator. But in other smaller and unexpected ways, we may also be reminded of God’s certain promise in His Word, “I am with you. I am not just your Creator but a loving, gentle God who cares about every detail of your life.”
One of the greatest gifts the Father gives His children is joy – a joy reflected through the suffering and death of His Son. It is a joy that Jesus set before Him as He endured it all for us and that exploded in full color on resurrection day. It is a joy for which we can be truly thankful!
Prayer: Father, thank You for providing beauty in its many forms, but thank You most of all for the salvation received through the death and resurrection of Jesus. Amen.
