from the rising of the sun to the place where it sets. Psalm 50:1
The storm rumbled through the night. Lightning shattered the darkness, followed by huge claps of thunder. The rain pounded on the roof and I wondered if my grandkids would be able to sleep through it. With a listening ear, I felt comfort when no movement or crying could be heard from their bedrooms.
After my daughter returned home after a night in the hospital, I began my short journey home. Mesmerized by the display before me, I pulled into a parking lot to view God’s wondrous beauty after the storm. In the east and throughout the canopy above, radiant colors brightened the sky, highlighting the previously darkened clouds. To the west appeared not just one full rainbow, but two. As I absorbed the beauty of the sunrise and rainbows, I was affirmed of His all-knowing, all-caring love as He continued to cover us in this storm of life.
Earthly sunrises and sunsets speak of God’s glory daily. There is no place on earth where it is not evident. Even after our stormy nights, when clouds seem to hide the sun, His comforting assurance is ours. And although the Sun of righteousness (Malachi 4:2), Jesus Christ, may appear hidden, His Word gives us certainty that in all things, our lives will continue to be guarded and guided by Him just as reliably as sunrises and sunsets.”
Prayer: Thank You, Father, for the gift of nature that reminds me of Your loving care and protection. Amen.
