And the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
“Keep Christ in Christmas” is an important key phrase used during the holiday season. With all the commercialism existing in America today, our vision of Christ gets lost in the hurry and scurry of the festivities. Buying and selling, decorating and gift buying swallow us up as we do our best to make family and friends happy with the event that we share this one day out of the year.
We, however, forget that keeping Christ in Christmas is not meant to be a one day event, or even a one season event. His presence is intended to provide the source of an abiding and lasting peace as our eternal Prince of Peace. Living His life for others, He provided peace while on earth and into eternity. As the angels sang, peace reigned when He rested in the cradle. It was revealed when He calmed the sea. Peace was hidden when Jesus endured the cross. It was victorious on Resurrection Sunday and is ours today because He lives in us. The Prince of Peace reigns. May we resolve to share that Peace with others.
Dear Jesus, thank You for humbling Yourself to become human. May this Christmas season reveal how You can live through me as I love others for You. Amen.
