made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions –
it is by grace you have been saved.
How can one add to these beautiful words! Grace and mercy were granted us through our baptism, making us alive in Him. Grace and mercy were revealed through the cross and resurrection. Grace and mercy is at the heart of God’s unconditional love for us. Planned before the creation of the world, Jesus knew His purpose and mission on earth would be to restore His children from the sin-filled condition in which we were trapped. Because of that love, He made the loving choice to permit the chains that Satan held tightly around us to be placed on Himself. His heart spilled mercy out to us as He supplied what we don’t deserve – His grace. And as a result of that grace, we are forgiven. We are redeemed. We are unleashed and given the freedom to serve Him faithfully out of love.
Grace is when we do receive what we don’t deserve.
Mercy is when we don’t receive what we do deserve.
Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank You for redeeming me even when I didn’t deserve it. Your amazing sacrifice on the cross frees me from Satan’s chains and enables me to serve You. May the Father’s glory be revealed in all that I do and say. Amen.
