Why do members choose to participate?

I thank God often that He has permitted the LWML to play an active role in the mission work of our church. Such an active role requires leaders and the development of leaders requires resources. When the delegates of the 1998 Corpus Christi convention established the Mission Inreach Endowment, they did so with the desire that our district would have monetary resources available to train our grass-roots members, ordinary folks like you and me, to be the leaders of tomorrow. Grounded in God’s Word, endowed with “eternity eyes,” and trained in leadership skills, the LWML of tomorrow will always be a mission-driven organization. Participating in this 75th Anniversary Campaign allows me to support a future generation in that endeavor! — Eloise Kuhlmann

It is an honor to participate in the Texas District LWML Endowment Program. By arranging a planned gift, I can help provide for Texas LWML efforts after I am in Heaven. How did I decide to participate? First, I prayed. Then, I simply arranged my commitment as the endowment campaign began in 2003. Making this gift is not complicated. It’s the right thing to do for the LWML women who will live and serve the Lord with gladness (Psalm 100:2) beyond our lifetime. — Dr. Carol Reineck

I was motivated to make a commitment to the Endowment Campaign for two basic reasons. One, the love of God who continues to work His will in my life. Second, as a Lutheran educator from an extended family with many Christian educators, I know the very growing need for financial and spiritual support. — Kathy Schkade

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this campaign beginning a NEW endowment?
No. Each endowment commitment will be equally divided between the existing Scholarship Endowment Fund and the Mission Inreach Endowment.

What is the Scholarship Endowment Fund?
This fund was established as the 50th anniversary endowment of the Texas District LWML. The principal remains untouched while the interest is used to give scholarships to qualifying young women of the Texas District who are pursuing fulltime church work degrees from an accredited college of The Lutheran Church—
Missouri Synod.

What is the Mission Inreach Endowment?
This endowment was established at the 1998 Texas District Convention in Corpus Christi. The proceeds are used for spiritual enrichment, member development and leadership training opportunities for members of the Texas District LWML as decided by the Executive Committee or Board of Directors.

Can a group, such as a society or zone, make a commitment?
No, only individuals may make a planned-giving commitment. However, societies and zones are asked to promote the campaign by encouraging individual members to make a commitment and by requesting a presentation from Lutheran Foundation of Texas at no cost.

Are mite monies being spent to finance this endeavor?
Very few. The steering committee meets at conventions, or, if at another time and location, at their own expense. There may be a budget line of no more than $500 per biennium for advertising and promotional expenses, etc. The Lutheran Foundation is covering all expenses for making presentations to societies, zones and conventions and is absorbing most of the postage, mailing and printing costs. LWML furnishes stationery and envelopes for mailings, which is minimal expense.

Do gift amounts have a minimum or maximum limit?
Gifts may be for any amount — there is none too large nor too small. If opening a Church Extension Fund account, a minimum of $500 is required.
