And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Philippians 4:19-20

Riches, fame, and power are worldly passions desired by many. They will go to any extreme to achieve it, even at the cost of family and faith. There are the masses who dream of winning the lottery, paying off all their debts, and being known as philanthropists. Billions of dollars are spent on this inner drive, proving that many hope to be that one in a million.

In our minds, prosperity is measured through our bank accounts, the cars driven, and the price of our homes. We view others with those accomplishments as successful and yearn to be numbered on the list with them. Prosperity is even preached from pulpits, claiming that if we give enough, share enough, or believe enough, we will receive it. And it is truly heartbreaking when it does not become visible.

For the Christian, the most wonderful, awesome prosperity to acquire is not measured in these ways. True prosperity is not discovered in earthly things, but in the Word of God, which gives us Jesus and His salvation. Received through the power of the Holy Spirit in our Baptism, the glorious riches of the heavens are ours through the very presence of Jesus Christ Himself.

Prayer:  Dear Father in heaven, may I strive for Your glorious riches in the heavens, for they are the greatest of all riches. In His name I pray. Amen.
