Satan’s Weapons: Doubt and Fear
Verse-Even to your old age I am he, and to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save. (Isaiah 46:6)
Have you ever feared that God wasn’t there when you needed Him, or doubted that He was able to help? Maybe someone close to you died or you or someone you love has been diagnosed with a terrifying disease. Maybe a relationship of yours is suffering. Maybe you are drowning in the same sin, unable to resist the temptation no matter how hard you try, and wonder if God even wants you. Doubt and fear are two powerful weapons Satan uses against us.
In many verses in the Bible God says that He is with us everywhere we are, but that assurance is often not enough because according to our human mind we often times want something more than just words in the Bible. We want to see action. Sometimes it is hard to see this because it is not the kind of action we want. One way to combat this is to count the ways God is acting in your life right now. Sometimes it is hard to think about what God is doing for us, so think about what He has done for you in your life. If it is still too hard, think about what God did for all of us. He sent His only Son to be the ultimate sacrifice so that we can have a relationship with Him. Another way to help know that God is with you is by praying. God commands us to pray especially in our time of trouble. And you remember what His promise is to you? “I will deliver you, and you will honor me.” (Psalms 50:15) God is and always will be with us.
Because of that we don’t have to doubt or be afraid of God, because we can trust him. Trust that God is carrying you through all your hard times and all your good times. From the beginning of your life at conception He carried you, and until the end of life He will carry you. God promises that He will never leave you or forsake you.
Prayer- Dear Father, please help me to keep all thoughts of doubt and fear out of my mind. And when I doubt You, assure me of Your forgiveness in Jesus Christ. Thank for all the blessings with which You shower me. Continue to bless me according to Your purpose for my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
