Ysleta Lutheran Mission Human Care Warehouse Repairs, El Paso (partial funding)
17,314.00
Ysleta Lutheran Mission Human Care distributes 150 weekly food baskets and other personal items in the El Paso and Juarez community. Each recipient receives the saving Word of our Lord and Savior through prayer, LCMS pamphlets, and a Bible. This mission grant will provide aid for much needed repairs to the food and distribution warehouses.
Gracious God, Your Word teaches our service of feeding the hungry, giving drink to the thirsty, and welcoming strangers is service rendered to You. Bless the ministry of Ysleta Lutheran Mission Human Care and the community they serve. Help them to achieve their vision of providing relief to the suffering, encouraging and equipping missions, instilling health and opportunity, and reaching the spiritually lost with the Good News of Jesus Christ. Bless these mites which will be used for repairs and renovation to the YLMHC food and distribution warehouses, allowing more of Your children to be reached through this ministry. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Funded through November 2024: $17,314

The Food Warehouse and White Warehouse serve as year-round donation storage for items such as backpacks, school supplies, toys, blankets, and hygiene kits.
Two long-term volunteers work together to assemble 1,000 plus backpacks for seven of the partnering mission churches to distribute. The process of putting together backpacks in the summer or toy bags in the winter can lead to dangerous working conditions for volunteers.
Over 2,000 blankets donated to YLM are kept dry and clean until the cold months begin. The ability to collect and store multiple quilts, blankets, and afghans makes it possible to provide these necessary items to families in El Paso and Juarez, Mexico.
The Servant Event Team from Ham Lake, MN collected backpacks and school supplies, putting 98 backpacks together and bringing them on their mission trip.
Saturday mornings start early in front of the YSL Food Warehouse. By 6:30 a.m., over 200 food boxes are filled with food items, both perishable and non-perishable, and are assembled and set out on sturdy tables for an easy distribution process.
The White Warehouse has been reorganized to allow for more storage of year-round donations. When donations of medical supplies and equipment arrive, they are stored here to keep them dry before being transported to Juarez, Mexico.
Over 700 backpacks filled with school supplies were taken from the warehouse and loaded into multiple vehicles to be taken across the border to Mexico.
Iglesia Luterana Gloria Dei, five hours from the Juarez/El Paso border, is a partnering mission church overseen by Pastor Misael Tovar. He and his wife make the long drive every three months and take with them needed resources to distribute among their congregation and community.
