Scholarship Guidelines and Application

The LWML Texas District Scholarship Endowment Fund was established in 1990 in celebration of our 50th Anniversary. Interest from the fund has enabled the committee to award scholarships to women from Texas District LCMS congregations enrolled in a course of study leading to full-time professional church work in The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.

Information on applying for a scholarship for the 2026–2027 school year is included with the fillable application form. Applications are due by March 31 of each year for the following school year. Please email Judy Kunkel to obtain her address to send the completed application.

2026–2027 Scholarship Recipients

Congratulations to these five young women, who have been selected by the LWML Texas District Scholarship Committee to each receive a $2,500 scholarship for the 2026-2027 school year.  Thank you to all of the amazing women who applied for the scholarship.  Please lift each of these young women up in prayer as they pursue the plans God has in store for them.

Interested in financially supporting these scholarships? The LWML Texas District Scholarship Endowment Fund provides 100% of the funding for these scholarships through yearly fund distributions. Gifts to this endowment are never spent but are invested and grow the amount of the distributions. The larger our endowment principal balance, the more scholarships we can give! Thank you so much for awarding me the LWML Texas District scholarship. I am grateful for your generosity and support. This scholarship will help me continue my education at Concordia University Nebraska, where I am studying Elementary Education. I am also working toward my Lutheran Teacher Diploma and a coaching endorsement. With your generosity I am able to attend school for a future where I can serve students both in the classroom, court, or in all aspects of life. I appreciate your investment in my education and your encouragement as I pursue my calling. Thank you again for your kindness and support.

I want to extend the most thanks for awarding me the LWML Scholarship for the 2026-2027 school year! I am thankful that I can make the most of this for continuing my educational career at Concordia University Nebraska in the fall. I am so grateful that the Lord has given me this path to continue towards the path of Middle Level Education as a Church Worker. I am thankful for the support I will have from my own LCMS church body to pursue my goals in education that I have been called to. I cannot wait to see all the Lord will do in my life as I have been provided these opportunities to assist me in my educational career.

I am writing to express my deepest thanks and gratitude for the generous scholarship you have awarded me. As I eagerly and prayerfully prepare to begin my church music studies at Concordia Nebraska, the blessing of this scholarship enables me to focus my efforts more freely on my future vocation. It allows me to foster my gifts in music and realize my calling to serve others! I am thrilled at the possibilities your support provides me for furthering my education and passion for the Lord’s church.
